  The characters, story and overall impact are solid, though there are many types of jarring plot holes, especially in the final product of the game. The story does end on a big oh-my-god cliffhanger.

  Graphics: 6/10

  The art direction is pretty good. Some of the characters in the RPG look better than others, but who cares. Everyone looks good enough.

  The game is mechanically solid. The story and graphics combined make up for the little gameplay flaws.

  I don’t like the music too much. It is in my opinion a little too muddy compared to the rest of the game. The sound effects are good.

  When you start the game, you are having visions, and your name has been chosen, Adonis. You have 10 minutes to read through it, so I’ll get to the meat of the quest in a minute.

  Travel

  The first time you enter the Digital World, you start out on the Isle of the Forsaken Islands. From here, you can travel to the Digital World and the Territories Between by using two methods, flying and riding. The fastest way to get to the Digital World is flying.

  You can fly to the Digital World once you’ve gained enough hearts. You can also fly to the Territories Between to get back home. Since all the points the system requires are generated when you’re playing, you don’t need to worry about not having enough gold, EXP, or any other currency. However, I still recommend getting it as soon as possible.

  Hunting

  Hunting is a strange feature in this game. When I say hunting, I mean with a hunting rifle.

  To refer back to the previous question… Why did you choose a different game engine from the previous Guild Wars games?

  A: For the most part, we could do without the character creation. The amount of variations we had to introduce at the same time felt like a bit too much, and the UI wasn’t really well optimized for our new control system and design, so we decided to completely redo the entire character creation system.

  Q: The spell towers available were a bit odd looking during the last development cycle, as was the main quest. Did you decide on the final version that was shown at PAX 2012, on the last day?

  A: At that point the Unity system was already in place, and we completely redesigned the spell system. The tower design in particular was actually an older build, you just saw it at PAX because it looked really bad.

  Q: Do you feel that your approach to making combat and movement work well has changed since the initial release in the beta?

  A: For the most part, no. We haven’t completely figured out resource management, but combat is pretty similar. The only difference is that we now have all these skills with combinations of resources, making a much more precise resource management system. We also now have a single-hit critical system instead of two.

  Q: Why do we have different types of enemies in the later chapters?

  A: Since we’re transitioning to three dimensions, we’re planning to have more complex battlefield layouts, which in turn required enemies
